Administrative Openings Upper School Director (posted January 30, 2012) The Upper School Director shares responsibility for the educational leadership of the school with the Head of School, Assistant Head of School/Academic Dean, Lower School Director, and the Middle School Director. The Upper School Director is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of all phases of the educational program in grades 9-12, including preparation and dissemination of materials regarding the Upper School program. The Upper School Director is responsible for the guidance, support, and supervision of the Upper School faculty who teach primarily in Upper School. He or she participates in the hiring of faculty, observes faculty, schedules regular faculty meetings, and participates in the formal professional growth program for faculty, including implementing programs for the professional development of faculty. The Upper School Director assists teachers in meeting their responsibilities as advisors. The Upper School Director oversees and cooperates with respect to all issues of student affairs, guidance and counseling including: “quality of life” for Upper School students; administering the Upper School advisory program; reporting to parents on student progress; encouraging the development of extracurricular and service activities, including athletics; developing the Honor Roll and other annual awards; and providing recommendations to parents as to tutors, summer programs, psychological services, etc. as needed. The Upper School Director is responsible for all administrative matters relating to the Upper School including: serving on the MFS Administrative Council and other relevant committees; developing and providing oversight of the Upper School budget; cooperating and providing guidance to the Director of Admissions/Financial Aid in implementing procedures for interviewing prospective students and participating in admission decisions; participating in scheduling all events for the year that specifically apply to the Upper School; and coordinating and overseeing the work of the Dean of Students, Upper School Counselor, College Guidance office and the Upper School administrative assistant. He or she will cooperate with the Middle and Lower School Directors to assure the continuing coordination and continuity of all phases of the educational program among the three school divisions. Master's degree required. Experience as a classroom teacher and in an administrative position required.
