The Arts - Photography
The Upper School
Photography program serves the beginner through advanced
level students. The beginners start with making and using
their own pin hole cameras to explore how a single-lens
camera works. They process their own black and white film
and prints. In the intermediate program, students continue
with the 33mm single–lens camera to work on projects
that involve lighting, enlarging techniques, composition
modification and photo mounting. The advanced class emphasizes
more independent projects, focusing on thematic services,
photo essays, documentary photo series and exploration of
techniques. They also explore the use of Adobe Photoshop
computer photo editing software on their own images.
