Athletics Moorestown Friends School offers a wide variety of sports for every season. We strive to help every athlete achieve his or her personal best, to be competitive and to contribute to a spirit of good sportsmanship and team unity. MFS is a member of the Friends Schools League and the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association.
Foxes Sports News May 18, 2009 Boys Tennis: South Jersey CHAMPS! Moorestown Friends defeated Sacred Heart 3-2 in the South Jersey Non-Public B finals today. Below is a recap of the matches in the order in which they finished: May 17, 2009 GFS Downs Foxes in FSL Final Host Germantown Friends jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning and MFS could not recover in a 5-3 loss Saturday in the Friends Schools League title game. Next up for MFS is Bishop Eustace in an NJSIAA Non-Public B quarterfinal. Date to be announced. May 14, 2009 Foxes To Play GFS in Friends League Baseball Title Game A Mike Stobbe sacrifice fly and Sean Cohen RBI single plated the go-ahead runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead the host Foxes to a 7-5 victory over Academy of the New Church (ANC) yesterday in a Friends Schools League (FSL) semifinal. ANC pitcher Curt Olson had tied the game at five in the top of the fifth inning with a three-run home run to right field. The winning pitcher for Moorestown Friends was Justin Spencer-Linzie who threw six innings. Ryan Solow pitched the seventh inning to earn the save. The Foxes will travel to Germantown Friends School (click here for directions) on Saturday for the FSL championship game. First pitch is at 1 p.m. May 13, 2009 Boys Lax Wins Playoff Tiebreak; Will Face ANC in Semifinal Jake O'Donnell scored two goals, including the game winner with four minutes remaining, to lead the Foxes to a 6-5 victory over George School in a Friends Schools League (FSL) playoff tiebreak game played at Academy of the New Church (ANC). The team will return to ANC on Thursday, May 14 to face the Lions in an FSL semifinal matchup. Go Foxes! May 12, 2009 Today the boys lacrosse team travels to Academy of the New Church for a playoff tiebreaker vs. George School. The winner of the match will earn the fourth seed in the Friends Schools League (FSL) playoffs and travel to Shipley on Thursday for a semfinal match. On Wednesday the baseball team will host Academy of the New Church in a FSL semifinal matchup at 4 p.m. The teams split the season series with each team winning on the road. The winner will face the winner of the Abington Friends vs. Germantown Friends semifinal on Saturday. Go Foxes!!! May 11, 2009 Boys Lax Earns State Berth The boys lacrosse team produced a dominating performance today, beating Paul VI 9-2 to earn a state playoff berth.The NJSIAA playoff brackets will be announced on Wednesday. May 9, 2009 Two Teams Earn FSL Playoff Berth; Boys Lax To Play Tiebreak for Semifinal Berth The MFS baseball team traveled to Shipley School on Saturday and earned a 8-4 victory. The visitors jumped on the Gators early leading 8-0, and never looked back. Ryan Solow earned the victory. The victory clinched a Friends School League (FSL) playoff berth and home field in the semifinal on Wed., May 13 (against an opponent to be determined). On Friday, the boys tennis team downed Abington Friends 3-2 in a must-win match to clinch an FSL playoff berth. They will travel to Friends Central for a 4 p.m. FSL semifinal match on Tues., May 12. They also host Bishop Eustace on Thursday, May 14, in a NJSIAA South Jersey Non-Public B playoff match. Finally, the boys lacrosse team traveled to Westtown School on Friday and captured a 14-6 win, creating a three-way tie for third place in the Friends League. They play George School on Tues., May 12 at Academy of the New Chruch in a FSL playoff tiebreaker. The winner earns the fourth seed in the playoffs. Foxes Fare Well at FSL Swimming Champs Field Hockey Players Receive National Academic Honors Nominees must be a senior member of their high school varsity field hockey team and must have earned a cumulative, unweighted GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0 or the equivalent through the first marking period of the 2008-09 academic year to be selected. 2008-09 Sports News Archive
