Friends
Schools League
Upper School teams are members
of the Friends Schools League, which was established in
1981. The nine schools that comprise this league share
many common beliefs and concerns included in Friends'
testimonies. Member schools are: Abington Friends School,
Academy of the New Church, Friends Central School, Friends
Select School, George School, Germantown Friends School,
Moorestown Friends School, Shipley and Westtown School.
League competition takes place in the following sports:
field hockey, tennis, soccer, cross country, basketball,
wrestling, baseball, lacrosse, golf, swimming and track and
field. MFS also offers a highly competitive fencing program that competes in the NJSIAA.
New
Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association
MFS (Upper School) is a member
of the NJSIAA. Teams have the opportunity to qualify
for the state tournament, which is held at the end of
each season.
The Red & Blue Athletic
Booster Club
The Red & Blue Athletic Club is a parent organization
that provides active support for the MFS athletic department. Club members assist with activities
such as the Fall and Winter Sports Awards programs, as well
as the annual Varsity Night event in the spring. The Red & Blue Club also runs fund-raising programs to benefit
the athletic department. Over the years, the Red & Blue
Club has funded new weight training equipment, a baseball
backstop, scoreboards, and provided contributions to both
the Campaign for Arts, Athletics & Endowment and the Markia
Harley Scholarship Endowment.
