2009-10 Teacher Leaders Announced

Kathy Cook
Tim Clarke
Teri Kaiser
Karen Washington

I am pleased to announce this year’s cohort of Teacher Leaders. They are Fifth Grade Teacher Kathy Cook, Upper School Physics Teacher Tim Clarke, First Grade Teacher Teri Kaiser and Director of Multicultural Affairs and World Languages/English Teacher Karen Washington.

The Teacher Leader program grew out of the 2004 Strategic Plan. Candidates must have at least 15 years of teaching experience (with at least 5 years at MFS) and must go through a detailed application process. Teacher Leaders are not only outstanding in the classroom but provide important leadership among their peers and throughout MFS. Teri, Kathy, Tim, and Karen join last year’s inaugural cohort of Lower School Quaker Education Teacher Lynne Brick, Third Grade Teacher Brenda Kyle, and Upper School Math Teacher Mike Omilian. Teacher Leaders serve for a three-year term.

Please join me in congratulating our newest Teacher Leaders.

--Larry Van Meter, Head of School

Fox Tracks

MFS ninth grader Ashleigh Cartwright and eighth grader Alicia Hutchinson are volunteering their services to Friends Enrichment Program (FEP) of Moorestown Friends Monthly Meeting, a project that reaches out to financially underprivileged Moorestown children with enrichment scholarships and other opportunities. They are sharing with FEP children their appreciation of ballet and some of the basic skills they learned in ballet classes through years of training. On Sunday afternoons, Ashleigh is offering basic ballet instruction and Alicia is assisting her. They are included in the FEP Sunday afternoon program of children’s activities.  Ashleigh and Alicia will be credited for their hours of community service.  Other students interested in serving as FEP volunteers are always welcome.  For more information about FEP and its volunteer opportunities, call Monique Begg at (856) 235-3963.
