MFS H1N1 Flu Preparedness Update - October 20, 2009 Dear Parent, Moorestown Friends School (MFS) continues to closely monitor local, regional and national developments regarding the H1N1 flu virus. School nurses continue to track symptoms of students absent from school due to illness. Like other schools in Burlington County, Moorestown Friends School is seeing an increased number of students with fevers, sore throats and coughs. We are in close contact with the county health department who assures us that what we are seeing is representative of other schools in the area. The CDC and health department continue to recommend that our best defense against illness is frequent hand washing, avoiding contact with our T-Zones (the area that includes our eyes, nose, and mouth), and remaining home when ill. Please note that before returning to school students must be fever free (without fever reducing medicine) for 24 hours. We are working with the county health department to provide our students with the opportunity for vaccinations as soon as possible. When specific information becomes available regarding vaccinations (locations, dates, times, etc.), we will communicate with parents. For more information, visit www.flu.gov, or call 1-800-CDC-INFO for the most current information about the flu. For more information about flu in our local community, visit the Burlington County Health Department Flu Pandemic Website or call 609-265-5548. Regards,
