MFS To Celebrate First-Ever New Jersey Day

On October 7, MFS will celebrate its first New Jersey Day. The goal of New Jersey Day is to learn about the local environment in which we live and work. For the inaugural NJ Day, the spotlight will be on “Jersey Fresh” – discovering our local food system. By understanding our local food network, we may become more conscious participants in it. This may include choosing locally grown foods in our diets, shopping at farm stands or co-ops and supporting policies that favor local farms.

The day’s activities will consist of experiential classroom instruction, assemblies and food kiosks set up in the Dining Hall/Commons providing educational information along with samples of foods with locally grown ingredients.

If you are involved with food production in New Jersey (from cooking to manufacturing to transporting) and would be interested in providing a food kiosk, please contact Barbara Kreider at ext. 251 or bkreider@mfriends.org.
