SIX SENIORS NAMED NATIONAL MERIT COMMENDED SCHOLARS

Six seniors were recently named National Merit Scholarship Commended Scholars: Alissa Beckett, Monica Chelius, Clara Fischer, Daniel Obaisi, Chris Schultz, and Ari Taormina.The 2008 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) served as an initial screen for more than 1.5 million entrants to the National Merit Scholarship Program. Recently 50,000 high scorers were identified and 16,000 were recently designated as semi-finalists. The other 34,000 high performers are honored as Commended Scholars. The National Merit Scholarship Program is conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
