STUDENTS OF ALL AGES TO CELEBRATE THANKSGIVING HAPPENING
2008 Thanksgiving Happening Photo Gallery On Wednesday, November 25 from 10 a.m. to Noon, Moorestown Friends School (MFS) students from prekindergarten to 12th grade, faculty and staff will join together for a unique day of fun and fellowship in celebration of Thanksgiving. Assigned mixed-age groups of students, faculty and staff create crafts such as paper bag turkeys, tissue-paper flowers, leaf wreaths and much more. Groups also create murals that are collectively displayed as part of the concluding festivities. All crafts are delivered to South Jersey nursing homes and continuing care facilities by faculty, staff and parent volunteers. The day concludes with song, prayer, a Thanksgiving story and Meeting for Worship. In addition, MFS students learn the number of complete Thanksgiving dinners they have collected as part of the MFS annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. Last year, MFS families and students contributed, packed and delivered over 100 holiday meals – all of the ingredients for a feast, along with money collected for turkey meat purchases – to New Visions Community Center in Camden for delivery to local needy families. Each reusable shopping bag, collected and packed by the students, included cans of vegetables, cans of gravy, mashed or sweet potatoes, stuffing mix, muffin or biscuit mix, pumpkin pie mix, evaporated milk and pie crust mix.
