BRAVO! CLUB STUDENT ART SALE - SUNDAY, APRIL 27
A Student Art Sale will take place at Moorestown Friends School (MFS), 110 E. Main St., on Sunday, April 27 from 1 - 4 p.m. in the Dining Hall/Commons. The event is open to the public and admission is free. Live music by the MFS Upper School Vocal Ensemble and performances by second grade violinists will be featured. Items for sale include paintings, ceramics, photography, scarves and more. Much of the work has been produced by students in the Upper School Art Studio class of Arts Department Chair Richard Marcucci, who has been with the school for over 25 years. Artwork produced by Middle School and Lower School students will also be on display and for sale. The work of guest artist and MFS parent Ira Stark will be featured. In February, his art was exhibited at the Amsterdam Whitney Gallery in New York City, and in June he will be the Artist of the Month at the Balance Gallery in Philadelphia. His daughter Alexandra graduated from MFS in 2006, and his son Justin is currently a sophomore. Moorestown Friends’ comprehensive program in musical, visual and performing arts allows students to explore and develop their creative gifts. Classes are offered in drawing, painting, ceramics, woodworking, photography, jewelry design, theater, voice, instrumental music and other arts disciplines. The Arts program at MFS has a long tradition of producing graduates who pursue artistic studies in college. Recent graduates have been accepted into many of the nation's premiere programs for training arts professionals. Among those schools to which recent MFS alumni have been accepted are: Berklee College of Music, Esther Boyer School of Music at Temple University, Hartt School of Music, Oberlin College Conservatory, The Juilliard School, Parsons School of Design, Pratt Institute, Manhattan School of Music, Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, and the University of the Arts. This first-time event is being sponsored by the school’s Bravo! Club which works to support the arts at MFS. All proceeds will go to the MFS Drama Fund.
