MFS News May 16, 2008 MFS STUDENT CHOIRS EXCEL AT ORLANDO MUSIC FESTIVAL
Three student choirs from Moorestown Friends School (MFS) won honors at the Heritage Music Festival in Orlando, Florida May 2-5. The students competed in three categories: Concert Choir, Women’s Choir, and A Cappella Choir. Each of the three choirs won gold medals in their category. A total of forty-four MFS Upper School singers participated. Two students, senior Kevin Schlagle of Maple Shade and junior Tyler Catanella of Delran, won Judges Choice Awards. These are given at the judges’ discretion to individuals whose performances were particularly impressive. A total of six Judges Choice Awards were given out among over 700 students who attended the festival. The MFS choirs are directed by Middle School and Upper School music teacher Melissa Keylock.
