MFS News June 2, 2008 STUDENTS WIN AWARDS IN REGIONAL SCIENCE POSTER CONTEST
Two Moorestown Friends School students took first and second place in the high school division of the student poster contest sponsored by the Mid Atlantic Chapter—Laboratory Robotics Interest Group of the American Chemical Society. The contest was held in conjunction with an annual technology exposition which took place at the Hilton East Brunswick on May 22. Junior Michael Stobbe took first place for his project entitled “How much is too much caffeine? The effects of caffeine on Daphnia heart rate.” Senior Samantha Cruz took second place for her project on “The effect on saliva production and pH level due to chewing gum.” Both students developed their projects in the Honors Anatomy and Physiology class. Twelve Biology I students also presented their work. Upper School biology teacher Drew Newman coordinated the student entries.
