MFS HOSTS "GARDENING FOR LIFE" ON THURS., JUNE 5
Event Co-Sponsored by Science Dept., PCWA, and STEM

On Thursday, June 5th, at 7:00 p.m., a presentation on “Gardening for Life” will be offered at the Moorestown Friends Meeting House. The event is being co-sponsored by the Science Department of Moorestown Friends School, the Pompeston Creek Watershed Association, and Save the Environment of Moorestown, or STEM. The speaker will be Dr. Doug Tallamy, professor and chair of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware.

Dr. Tallamy is the author of Bringing Nature Home: How Native Plants Sustain Wildlife in Our Gardens, which was published in November 2007. This book gives native plant enthusiasts the latest scientific research showing that gardening with native plants is necessary to save wildlife populations from decreasing. When invasive plant species begin to make up a high percentage of the vegetation, insect populations will inevitably crash, causing havoc in the natural world. Dr. Tallamy will be available to autograph his book after his presentation.
