Moorestown Friends School (MFS) sophomores Janak Bhatt of Medford and Ryan Lutz of Mount Laurel took first place in the high school division of the third annual student poster contest sponsored by the Mid Atlantic Chapter of the Laboratory Robotics Interest Group of the American Chemical Society. The contest was held in conjunction with an annual technology exposition which took place at the Hilton East Brunswick on May 17.
The winning project was titled “More CO2… What Will the Peas Do?” and showed that rates of photosynthesis in plants increase proportionally to the amount of carbon dioxide available in the environment. Poster subjects could include any topic in engineering or the biological and physical sciences.
Ten other MFS students also submitted posters. They were seniors Alix Ablaza of Moorestown and Kevin Wojcik of Moorestown, juniors Ariel Aguiar of Mount Laurel, Kayla Fox of Voorhees, Lauren Hawkins of Franklinville, Shane Iosca of Marlton, and Chris Nigro of Shamong, and sophomores Drew Bachman of Mount Laurel, Sarah Fischer of Cherry Hill, and Robert Ryczak of Voorhees.
Upper School biology teacher Drew Newman coordinated the student entries.
