MFS FOURTH GRADERS TO JOIN SOUTH JERSEY FRIENDS SCHOOL PEERS

AT NEW JERSEY SYMPOSIUM

Fourth graders from Moorestown Friends School will attend the New Jersey Symposium at Haddonfield Friends School (47 N. Haddon Avenue) on Friday, May 4, from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.  They will be joined by students from Friends Academy of Westampton, Friends School of Mullica Hill, and Westfield Friends.  The participating schools rotate hosting this annual event.

Each student will present a report about a famous person, place, or thing related to New Jersey.  These presentations, as well as games and art projects, will take place in mixed groups of students from the different schools. Each student has been corresponding with pen pals from other schools leading up to the Symposium.

“The symposium is one of the traditional, culminating activities for our fourth graders who are completing their final year in the Lower School, and ‘moving up’ to Middle School,” said MFS fourth grade teacher Margaret McKee. “They are proud to present their research reports to each other and to learn more about their state of New Jersey from their peers.”

The students may also participate in a Read-A-Thon prior to the Symposium to raise money for Leavenhouse, which provides meals and permanent housing for homeless people in Camden.
