MOORESTOWN FRIENDS FENCERS WIN TOURNAMENT HONORS

MOORESTOWN, NJ – Three Moorestown Friends School fencers have placed first in a state-wide fencing tournament.

The MFS Boys Foil Team was undefeated and took home the first place trophy at the Cetrullo Tournament at Voorhees High School in Glen Gardner, N.J. this month, defeating 38 other schools.

The team consists of John Gurrieri, a Medford senior, who will fence for Yale next year, Mario Ponticello, a Medford senior who will attend the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and will fence for Penn next year, and Paul Gray, an Edgewater Park junior.

Moorestown Friends this year had 43 fencers in both a Varsity and JV coed program. This is the fifth year that MFS has offered fencing as a winter sports option in addition to Varsity and JV Boys and Girls Basketball and Swimming.
