MOORESTOWN FRIENDS SENIOR HONORED BY FREEHOLDERS FOR VOLUNTEER WORK

MOORESTOWN – Moorestown Friends senior Richard “RJ” Durante of Moorestown has been honored by the Burlington County Board of Freeholders for his volunteer work on the steering committee of the Youth Service Initiative Conference. Durante was one of three students who received a congratulatory proclamation from Freeholder Vince Farias during National Volunteer Week (April 23 to 29).

The YSI conference, now in its third year, is open to all Burlington County high schools and is designed to encourage service by students. Durante planned and helped run the conferences.

In addition, he has participated in two school service learning trips to the Heifer Ranch in Arkansas. He has actively supported Moorestown Friends School’s Upper School Service Committee and Emancipation Rocklamation, an annual concert to raise funds to support an anti-slavery organization. He also is known for his comic acting talents, having recently portrayed “Bottom” in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

Durante plans to attend Drexel University next year and will study nursing.
