LOWER SCHOOL

Welcome to Lower School at Moorestown Friends School! We are very excited to have your family joining us for the 2017-18 school year.

In mid-July, you will receive your login information for myMFS, our parent portal that offers access to important school information.  An important reminder — much of the information in myMFS at that point will pertain to the 2016-2017 academic year and will be updated over the summer with information accurate for the 2017-2018 academic year.

In early August, you will receive an email notification from the Lower School office that will detail your child’s class assignment and will provide access to all important back-to-school forms and information you’ll need to get you ready for the great school year ahead.

Later in August, your child’s teacher will contact you with classroom specific information including how to prepare for the first day of school. We generally do not ask students to purchase supplies for school, however your child’s classroom teacher will let you know if there’s a special item or two that will be needed.

Lower School students have no official summer assignments. However, you can visit the MFS library webpage for some summer reading suggestions.

Welcome aboard!

Lower School Director

In early July, all Middle School families will receive a summer letter containing more detailed information about the start of school. Students receive their teacher and schedule information at New Student Orientation. Later in July you will receive access to our myMFS family portal. An important reminder — much of the information in myMFS at that point will pertain to the 2016-2017 academic year and will be updated over the summer with information accurate for the 2017-2018 academic year.

  • Mathematics and World Languages Placement for 7th and 8th Grade:
    • All students new in 7th or 8th grade should contact the Middle School Office to make arrangements to take a mathematics placement test. This will determine regular or honors placement and allow teachers to determine any areas in which incoming students may need support.
    • Students new in 7th grade choose between Chinese, French and Spanish for their World Language. 7th and 8th grade is a Level 1 World Language course split over two years. Students must stay with their language of choice for both years.
    • Any students new in 8th grade wishing to switch to a new language or who has not previously studied a World Language for at least one year should contact the Middle School Office to learn more about available options.

Middle School placement testing will be offered between 9 AM and 1 PM on the following dates:

  • Friday, June 23
  • Wednesday, July 19
  • Tuesday, August 1
  • Monday, August 28

Contact Dawn Pratt in the Middle School Office to schedule your incoming 7th or 8th grader’s math placement test (approximately 2 hours) or, when applicable, your incoming 8th grader’s world language placement test (approximately 1.5 hours).

Welcome!
