By Charlie Tanas ’20, Marketing and Communications Student Intern

After recently graduating from Goucher College, Vashti Williams ’13 joins the MFS community as a teaching intern in the science department. At Goucher, Vashti earned a B.A. in Environmental Studies and International Business. There, she also served as the president of the Goucher Outdoors Society and vice president of greenhouse for the Goucher Agricultural Cooperative.

Vashti is excited to reunite herself with MFS community, as she had been a student here just a few years ago. “I don’t feel like I ever really ‘left’ the MFS community,” said Vashti. “Once you’re in it, you’re in it forever. I love the sense of community and camaraderie.”

She has “always loved science and the environment,” and believes that her senior year MFS intensive learning trip to Hawaii “cemented” that passion.

Vashti entered the field of education because she was intrigued by the connection between education and STEM fields. She was delighted to see how interested young students were in science, and believes that all children deserve the same right to education.

In her spare time, Vashti loves painting, reading, baking, hiking, playing violin, and riding horses.
