The Theater and Drama program at Moorestown Friends School prepares students for roles on stage and in life, through classes and numerous performance opportunities.
Grade-level presentations begin in Lower School. The Performing Arts Program aims for each student to continue to experience the thrill of participation in performing arts throughout their Middle School years. In addition to performance opportunities in theater, instrumental music, and vocal music, students also undertake academic studies in the performing arts for all four years. Theater classes are offered during activity periods, and all Grade 6 students take theater for a quarter of the year.
The Middle School musical, open to Grades 6-8, is presented in late May. Seventh graders all participate in the Intensive Learning theatrical production, and eighth grade students are eligible to audition for the fall Upper School musical.
All-School Productions featuring Upper School students include a Fall Musical, a Spring Drama, and the student-directed Drama Club play. Upper School electives in drama include Introduction to Acting and Directing, as well as Technical Theater.
As a living art form, theater requires attention to detail and discipline. Moorestown Friends School teaches students these important skills.
