The MFS Capstone Program is designed to challenge and inspire students who wish to pursue advanced study in a particular field. Beginning in the spring semester of junior year and running through the middle of senior year, the program asks participants to produce scholarly work by engaging in independent research and/or creative development under the guidance of a MFS faculty member.
Participants meet weekly with their advisors but complete the bulk of the work on their own. All projects culminate in a public demonstration, which may take the form of an academic presentation/defense or a creative performance. A typical project will require a minimum of 40 hours of work.

- Writing and staging an original play
- Civil engineering study of MFS traffic/parking patterns with cost analysis and recommendations to the school administration for improvement
- Analysis of family policy in America: Is there a federal solution?
- Design, production, and marketing for hand-made fashion clothing
- Science lab research sponsored by a university professor (e.g., “An Epidemiological Study of Diabetic Ulcers and Analysis of Electrospinning”)
- Authoring an original historical fiction novella
- The Process of Crafting a Short Story
- Understanding Hezbollah
- American Dance History and Performance
- An Analysis of Teachers’ Perceptions of the Development of Student Leadership
- How Technology Relates to and is Used in the Practice of Optometry
- The Importance of Ethical Values in Business
