The Peer Leadership program provides seniors with an opportunity to work with freshmen as mentors, helping the ninth grade students with their transition to high school, introducing them to Upper School extracurricular and social opportunities, and discussing moral and ethical issues. The goal of the Peer Leadership program is to provide a platform for the older students in our community to model and cultivate positive character traits. Peer Leaders may also be called upon to serve in other leadership capacities for Moorestown Friends School as representatives at different events.
The small group of selected seniors chosen as Peer Leaders facilitates a year-long program to orient ninth grade students to Upper School. Seniors lead discussions once a cycle (every six days) pertaining to academic and social skills needed for success at MFS.
The curriculum of the Peer Leadership program covers topics such as:
- Managing school rules and social media
- Coping with stress and organizing school work
- Social relationships in and out of school
- Academic honesty
- Meeting for Worship and expectations in a Quaker school
- Study skills
- Ethical dilemmas and conflict management
