Friendship Week Kicks Off

Feb 14, 2022

Monday, February 14 kicked off the community-wide Friendship Week celebration at MFS. Friendship Day started in 2015 as an observance of the International Day of Peace. In 2016, the date was changed from September 21 to February 14, and the event has since grown from a day-long event to a week of classroom and community activities.

All three divisions, faculty, and staff met in a Zoom meeting to gather and reflect on friendship and belonging at MFS. The query “when have you felt a sense of belonging at MFS?” was posed and reflections were then shared in small breakout groups. The entire community then came back together for a virtual Meeting for Worship. The event took place virtually to offer the opportunity to connect with other divisions in a way we are unable to do right now in person.

Beyond Friendship Day, student and adult committees/clubs will offer a range of ways to celebrate our community. Some ways include:

  • Environmental Stewardship Committee – Trashless Tuesday
  • MS Service Club – Bulletin Board Valentines for MS students and Valentines for the food bank at First Baptist Church
  • US MLK Club – Black History Month celebrations

US Service Committee/Mental Health Awareness Club – Breakfast Fundraiser for Mental Health Organizations
