On December 13, all tenth grade students enjoyed World Language field trips that highlighted the culture of their language of study (French, Mandarin, or Spanish). Students from each language penned a summary of their experience, both in English and their language of study, to provide readers with a student’s perspective.

On s’est embarqué à notre excursion en attendant que ce soit une excursion normal. Ça n’était pas correct. On est arrivé au musée Barnes quinze minutes avant que notre visite ne commence. La structure grandiose et la lumière naturelle était noté par les personnes enclins à architecture dans notre groupe, même si les autres ont simplement commenté que l’immeuble avait l’air de estime et dignité.
Et puis, le visite a commencé. Le guide était étonné avec notre connaissance de l’impressionism et les artistes impressionnistes. Pour plusieurs semaines on a étudié impressionism dans notre classe pour un module pour l’année. On a couvert tout de les styles et les techniques que les peintures ont utilisés, à les sujets similaires, les peintures et les artistes célèbres, et encore les événements du monde au 19ème siècle. Et il faut dire que tout cela était en français! Après un dernier documentaire de Barnes, on était des experts et capable à répondre n’importe quelle question que le guide avait.
Puis, c’était l’heure pour le déjeuner. Le Chéri était facilement un des restaurants le plus sophistiqués que on est allé sur une excursion, et après un menu dégustation on était prêt à faire un sieste. Mais la nourriture charmante n’était pas le meilleure partie du excursion: la conversation était. On a beaucoup rigolé et on s’est connu nos camarades de classe et nos profs comme rien avant. Parce qu’on était un petit groupe on a été assis à une table et on a couvert chaque sujet des émissions de télé conseillé à nos ennuis d’école. À la fin de journée, je pense qu’on s’est rapproché comme un groupe et je pense que cette expérience va être quelque chose qui va rester avec nous au futur.

We embarked on our excursion expecting a normal school field trip. This was anything but that.
We arrived at the Barnes 15 minutes before our tour started. The grand structure and natural light of the building was noted almost instantly by the architecturally inclined of our group, while the rest of us simply commented that the building had an air of esteem and dignity.
And then the tour started.
The tour guide was surprised by our extensive knowledge about impressionism and impressionistic paintings. For weeks we had been studying impressionism in class as one of our units for the year. We had covered everything from the styles and techniques that painters used, to common subject matter, famous artists/paintings, and even 19 century world events. Not to mention this was all in French. After one last documentary on Barnes before the trip, we were all experts and were able to answer any question the guide had, in French if she so chose. After our tour we wandered around the museum for half an hour and picked our favorite painting to write an essay on.
Then it was time for lunch. Le Chèri was easily one of the more fancy restaurants we had ever gone to on a field trip, and, after a three course meal, we were all ready to take a nap. But the lovely food wasn’t the best part of the trip: the conversation was. We laughed so much and got to know each other and our teachers like never before. Because we were a small group we sat at one table and covered every conversational topic from recommended tv shows to our school troubles. At the end of the day I think we really bonded as a group and I think that this experience will be something that stays with us in the future.

Nous nous sommes régalés à Le Chéri. L’expérience était très unique, et le restaurant était une belle découverte. Quand je suis entrée dans notre salle, j’ai dit << Whoah>> parce que l’ambiance du restaurant m’a plu beaucoup. La salle était très jolie, élégante, et chaleureuse. Bien que la décoration soit un peu démodée, les décorations démodées et des couleurs classiques faisaient une atmosphère comme une maison chaude pendant une journée froide. En plus, les serveurs étaient chaleureux et travailleurs. J’ai pris une soupe aux poire et au beurre comme une entrée. Elle était très sucrée et crémeuse. Peut-être c’était un peu bizarre de commencer un repas avec une entrée sucrée, mais avec le pain, la soupe était délicieuse. Comme plat principal, j’ai pris le canard. Je l’ai aime beaucoup parce qu’il avait beaucoup de saveur. Peut-être c’était un peu trop salé, mais ce n’était pas un grand problèm. Le canard a juste le bon dosage entre sa peau croquante et sa viande juteuse. Finalement, pour le dessert, je voudrais donner un grand bravo. Une brownie avec la glace était la méthode parfaite de finir ma journée. Certainement, je voudrais retourner à Le Chéri parce que toutes des choses étaient élégantes et délicieuses. Je donnerai cinq étoiles à cette restaurant.

We had a wonderful time at Le Cheri. The experience was very unique, and the restaurant was a wonderful discovery. When I entered into our room, I said, “Whoah,” because I really liked the atmosphere of the restaurant. The room was very pretty, elegant, and warm. Although the decor was a little old-fashioned, the old-fashioned decorations and classic colors created a beautiful atmosphere which reminded me of a warm house on a cold day. The waiters were friendly and hardworking too. I had the pear and butter soup as an appetizer. It was very sweet and creamy. Maybe it was a bit odd to start a meal with a sugary dish, but with some bread, the soup was delicious. For the main course, I had the duck. I liked it a lot because it had a lot of flavor. Maybe it was a little too salty, but it wasn’t a big deal. The duck has just the right balance between its crispy skin and it’s juicy meat. Finally, for the dessert, I would like to give a big bravo. A brownie with ice cream was the perfect way to finish my day. Definitely, I would go back to Le Chéri because everything was elegant and delicious. I would give this restaurant five stars.

Le Chéri était formidable! La cuisine avait le goût superb et l’ambiance était tranquille. Le personnel était bien informé au sujet des repas. Le service était efficient et excellent! Si j’allais retourner au restaurant, je voudrais goûter la salade de chèvre. J’ai trouvée l’entrée était le meilleur plat! J’ai adorée la soupe beaucoup. Elle était très crémeuse et sucrée. La soupe m’a beaucoup plu, mais je souhaite qu’il y avait plus des options végétarienne pour le plat principal. Donc, je donnerais ce restaurant quatre étoiles pour un bon moment avec mes amis.

Le Chéri was wonderful! The food tasted superb and the atmosphere was peaceful. The staff were very knowledgeable about the meals. The service was efficient and excellent! If I were to return to the restaurant, I would like to taste the goat cheese salad. I found that the appetizer was the best dish! I loved the soup very much. It was creamy and sweet. I liked the soup a lot, but I wish there were more vegetarian options for the main dish. Therefore, I would give this restaurant four stars for a good time with my friends.
