On the weekend of April 26-28, five sophomores traveled to Arlington, VA to compete in the National History Bowl. The team qualified for nationals after a second-place finish at the Southern New Jersey tournament in December. Throughout the weekend, they faced off against challengers from Texas, California, Massachusetts, and many other states.

Team members were Andrew Gray, Chris Little, Kayla Patel, Om Patil, and Will Troy. In History Bowl, they had an overall record of 5-5 and placed third in their group. History Bowl competitions cover multiple aspects of world history over four quarters, including a timed lightning round.

The MFS team also participated in the following events:

U.S. History Bee. In this event, individual students answer paragraph-length questions about various topics of U.S. History, from New World exploration and the Aztecs to former Presidents and current-day politics.

Varsity International Geography Bee. This Bee requires students to answer questions about various countries, cultures, and geographical features.

National History Bee. Individual students answer paragraph-length questions about all aspects of world history, from ancient times to the present day.
