On Thursday, April 21, the MFS Consumer Bowl team earned first place at the Southern Regional competition at Pemberton High School. MFS (Burlington County champions) defeated teams from Cedar Creek (Atlantic County), Gloucester City (Camden County), Ocean City (Cape May County), and West Deptford (Gloucester County).

The four-person team, made up of John Barton ’17, Captain Josh Murdy ’16, Alex Barrett ’17, and Alex Horn ’17 is coached by Science and Engineering Department Chair Dr. Barb Kreider. The team will next travel to Trenton, NJ for the state competition on May 27 against the champions from the Central and Northern regional competitions.

The New Jersey High School Consumer Bowl is a quiz-show style competition in which students test their knowledge on consumer affairs. The competitors are asked a host of questions on issues affecting buyers of goods and services, such as Ponzi schemes, investment fraud, and insurance policies. The competition is sponsored by the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs.
