On June 22, Upper School Director Justin Brandon, Director of College Counseling Meredith Hanamirian, and Chester Reagan Chair for Religious/Quaker Studies Priscilla Taylor-Williams presented at the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools (PAIS) Global Education Symposium at the Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA. MFS was invited because of the attention regarding the success of the Peer Leadership program, established in the Upper School in 2014. Their workshop, titled “Leadership Legacy: Creating Opportunities for Students,” delved into the creation of the Peer Leadership program.

As co-teachers and creators of the course, Mr. Brandon, Mrs. Hanamirian, and Mrs. Taylor-Williams shared a program development template with their fellow educators, reviewing the many factors considered while establishing the program, such as servant versus traditional leadership, curriculum, staffing, scheduling, Peer Leader selection, cost, student training, expanded opportunities for leadership, and evaluation of the program.
