MS Diversity Club Joins MLK, Jr. Club in Celebration of Black History Month

In celebration of Black History Month, the Middle School Diversity Club joined the Upper School Martin Luther King, Jr. Club to collaborate on art for a bulletin board in the Middle School hallway. The clubs used portraits of black leaders in the Health and Wellness field along with colorful paper and paints to create a beautiful display. “The goal of the project was to identify and highlight people who the students can learn from – three of whom are MFS alumni,” said MLK Jr. Club advisor Sonia Guzman ’02

The alumni included:

  • Holly McWhorter ’87co-founder of organic skincare and bath brand PLANT Apothecary
  • Michael Strambler ’92 – Associate Professor of Psychiatry; Director of Child Well-being and Education Research
  • Ashley Edwards ’08Founder and CEO of MindRight Health

Director of Diversity and Inclusion Dot Lopez noted a “great atmosphere of peacefulness and harmony in working” between the two groups.
