Jenny Torgerson joins the MFS faculty as a prekindergarten teacher. Jenny graduated from NYU with a degree in Drama and Applied Theatre, then went on to get her master’s in Early Childhood Education from Bank Street College. After eight years of teaching in Los Angeles and New York, Jenny is excited to get involved in the MFS community and bring her theatrical passions to the Lower School.

“I love the support across all divisions of the community!” said Jenny. “On the day I interviewed, everyone was eager to talk with me and share their love of education.”

Jenny’s passion for teaching stems from her love to connect with children. “I love the moment when a child first figures out a new skill,” she said. “The pride in their faces is incredible.”

Jenny’s educational philosophy changed for the better as a result of one of her graduate school teachers that taught her how to shape a classroom curriculum and connect with students. She believes that every student should be joyful in the classroom and feel ownership over their own education, rather than it be forced upon them.

In her free time, Jenny enjoys participating in community theatre, choreographing musical productions, and playing the french horn.
