Preschool Classes Come Together to Create a Playscape Themed Planter

May 18, 2022

Throughout the school year, Garrett McVaugh’s and Kate Hilgen’s preschool classes have studied the new Playscape through play, observation, and creative representation. From their research came a particular interest in the structures and the plant life throughout the area, and each class delved into further learning in numerous ways. One way included using clay to create their own interpretation of each of the Playscape structures. They formed swings, a log climber, parkour set, the pendulum swing, and more using clay, straw, and string and then painted their structures in vibrant colors. To tie their clay projects in with their interest in plant life, the two classes came together to create a planter that featured their clay sculptures, as well as flowers and other plant life.
