Serena Lin ’19 has been named a commended poet for the 2018 Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award. The annual competition, sponsored by the UK Poetry Society, draws international applicants and this year received entries from 83 countries.

The judges chose 15 winners and 85 commended poets from nearly 11,000 submissions by nearly 6,000 writers. Serena’s poem will be published in a digital anthology on the Foyle Young Poets webpage.

Earlier this year, Serena received a silver medal from the National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for her autobiographical poem “Seasons.” In addition, Lin recently co-managed the varsity girls’ basketball team, attended conferences as a member of Model UN, and was named a Semifinalist in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program.
