On Saturday, January 16, Moorestown Friends sent a team of six students to the Burlington County Academic Tournament at Lenape High School in Medford, NJ. This was the first year that MFS competed in the local tournament and the team placed third. Academic team members included (pictured left to right) Tyler Radack ’17, Calum Boone ’18, Charles Kropiewnicki ’17, Josh Murdy ’16, Alex Barrett ’17, and John Barton ’17.

After finishing sixth following the morning rounds, MFS advanced to face the third-seeded Lenape-2 team. MFS upset the Lenape-2 team, winning by only 25 points, to advance to the semifinals. Although MFS then fell to the Lenape-1 team, they lost the semifinal round with more points than the other semifinalist, so MFS finished in third place. A total of twelve teams competed in the tournament from regional high schools, with several schools sending multiple teams.
