Summary of 2016-17 Academic Schedule Revisions

Upper School

  • School day begins at 8 a.m.
  • Creation of three new one-semester required courses which will meet every other day:
    • Grade 9 Quaker Beliefs and Values course
    • Grade 10 Leadership course
    • Grade 11 World Religions course (mandatory for students who have not fulfilled Religion graduation requirement)
  • Increased opportunity for students to pursue arts courses
  • Reconfiguration of Advising schedule and introduction of new Advising curriculum 
  • 10-minute daily mid-morning break

Middle School

  • School day begins at 8 a.m.
  • Opportunities for accelerated learning and specialization in the performing arts
  • Increased class time in Religion/Friends Values
  • Additional Technology coursework, including seamless transition from Lower School Coding courses into Middle School.
  • Reconfiguration of Advising schedule and introduction of new Advising curriculum 

Lower School

  • There is no change to the start of the school day for Lower School students. All classroom doors will continue to open at 7:55 a.m. The official start of the school day (when attendance is taken) is 8:05 a.m. in grades K-4 and 8:25 a.m. in PS and PK.
