Middle School

The Performing Arts Program aims for each student to continue to experience the thrill of participation in performing arts throughout their Middle School years. In addition to performance opportunities in theater, instrumental music, and vocal music, students also undertake required academic studies in the performing arts during all four years of Middle School. Theater classes are offered during activity periods, and all Grade 6 students take theater for a quarter of the year.

Middle School Choral Program

Middle School students are given specialized opportunities to hone their singing skills, learn to read music, become engaged performers, collaborate with their peers, and experience different styles of music. Middle School Choir performs pop songs, spirituals, folk songs, multi-cultural music, and standard literature in multiple parts, often with movement or basic staging for an exciting performance experience.

5th Grade Choir

This choir, unique to Grade 5, provides singers with a rigorous course covering basic singing technique, introduction to notation, experience with foreign languages and movement. The choir meets twice every six days, performs at the Winter and Spring Concerts, and is featured in the Choir Showcase in February.

Middle School Musical

The Middle School musical, open to Grades 6-8, is presented in late May. Seventh graders all participate in the Intensive Learning theatrical production, and eighth grade students are eligible to audition for the fall Upper School musical.
