Lower School Students Enjoy Thanksgiving “Bot” Parade

Nov 23, 2021

Lower School students enjoyed a Thanksgiving Bot Parade on November 22 in the Library. In Coding classes with Ms. Kaplan, second graders have been working with robots called Ozobots and created “floats” to look like book characters. In Library class with Ms. Malwitz, students read Balloons Over Broadway by Melissa Sweet to learn about the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. They designed NYC-styled buildings to line the streets of the parade. Third graders have been working with robots called Root and disguised them as turkeys spelling letters that represent our school. Seventh graders who are taking Computer Science Essentials have been working on 3D design with Ms. Day and made replicas of well known NYC-skyscrapers.

A video was viewable on a loop all day in the Library as the robots did not have sufficient battery life to be powered all day.
