Lower School Students Enjoy Environmental Day Led by Upper School Students

Apr 17, 2023

The Upper School Environmental Committee hosted an Environmental Day for all Lower School students (Preschool – Grade 4) for the second year in a row. The day featured a number of age-appropriate activities including painting birdhouses, a lesson on beekeeping, making bird feeders, pinwheels, and reusable t-shirt bags, a nature walk, and a visit from Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge. As the Upper School student club members led the students through each activity, they provided the Lower Schoolers with an environmental lesson related to the activity – i.e. the importance of bees for the earth, how recycling home items cuts down on the production of waste, etc. Each student completed the day with further knowledge of ways they can help the Earth and a few crafts to take back to their home environments.
