Girls’ Tennis Captures Burlington County Open

The Moorestown Friends School Girls’ Tennis team captured the Burlington County Open this past weekend. The 13-team flighted tournament matches players at similar levels against each other. The competition began Friday at Veterans Park in Hamilton.  The top singles players advanced to the finals at Moorestown High School on Saturday. Bella Pescatore ’22 easily captured the number one singles flight championship with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over a Moorestown opponent and Kathryn Sebastian ’22 won the third singles flight championship with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over a Moorestown opponent. Once those championship matches were completed, the team championship hung in the balance as Skye Mada ’22 contested the number two singles flight championship against a Shawnee opponent. She won the first set 6-0 before dropping the second set 4-6. After being down 1-4 and 2-5, Skye came back to win the third set, 7-5, to clinch her flight championship and the team championship for the Foxes!
